Application Requirements

Be Smart Tokyo CIC Program

・Eligible startups

Startups that wish to proceed with PoC’s (Proof of Concept) or implement their technologies and services in offices, commercial facilities, and public institutions in Tokyo in the areas of (1) Environment and energy, (2) Life science and healthcare, (3) Next-generation offices, (4) Mobility, and (5) Childcare and education.

Startups must also meet the following requirements.

【Eligibility Requirements】

  1. Have a business presence in Tokyo, or planning to do so

  2. Must have been in business for less than 20 years at least

  3. None of the following apply

    **a.**Has received a decision of commencement of bankruptcy proceedings and has not had his/her rights restored

    **b.**Listed in each item of Article 32, Paragraph 1 of the Act on Prevention of Unjust Acts by Organized Crime Group Members (Act No. 77 of 1991)

    **c.**Businesses and business entities that do not offend public order and morals as stipulated in Article 90 of the Civil Code

  4. Be an appropriate business entity for the prompt realization of the contents of the proposal and possess the necessary technology, knowledge, etc.

【Other Requirements】

  1. The applicant must have sufficient structure within their organization to support the smooth and effective implementation of the project. The applicant must also have a system for close collaboration with related parties, such as smart service implementation promotion business operating team.
  2. Demonstrate an understanding of the purpose of the project and a willingness to work on the implementation of the project enthusiastically and continuously over the two-year period from this fiscal year to the next.
